Um El Faroud history
Um El Faroud wreck is the biggest and the most popular scuba diving wreck in Malta. Bound to Libya, Um El Faroud was a single screw motor tanker. In February 1995 she was set to the dry docks of Malta for maintenance works. Unfortunately an explosion occurred during the night of February 3. This unfortunate even took lives of nice workers. There is a metal plate commemorating the names of the workers just below the ship’s bridge. The vessel suffered fatal damages during the explosion. 3 years later, after a sudden change of plan, the vessel was scuttled as an artificial reef.
