Scuba diving

Welcome to Belowsealevel – a home for my underwater photos

The website

Hey, my name is Jurijs and I welcome you to my collection of underwater photography. I do this as my hobby project mainly cause I enjoy taking photos, and what’s even more important – I enjoy scuba diving. It was just a matter of time until I put these two together. This is how Belowsealevel – underwater photography Malta website was born. Since you are here and reading this I hope this is the passion we both share.

Here you will find a number of images of nudibranch, octopus, hermit crabs, moray eels, rays as well as numerous wrecks that surround Maltese Islands. All the photos on the website are now available to purchase as canvas prints! Moreover, some cool merch is now available as well.

I also have Instagram page that include all the underwater photos displayed on this page, plus many more. I’d appreciate if you follow me there.

Maltese islands

Malta and it’s sister islands Gozo and Comino are full of historical wrecks, numerous caves and swim through passages. There are also a number of man-made statues that were scuttled on purpose for scuba divers pleasure. To get an idea of what Maltese island can offer to a scuba diving fan, please visit the Maltadives.com where all the underwater attractions are carefully listed and grouped into categories – Cave, Reef, Wall or Wreck diving.

Technical diving

Most of the wrecks can be visited free of charge. Howeve since 2019 most of the deeper, technical wrecks require a special permit form Heritage Malta. These permits can be acquired from a number of approved dive centers.
