Tugboat 10 canvas print
Tugboat 10
Description and history of Tugboat 10
Tugboat 10, or as she is also known – Tug 10 is one of the 3 scuba diving wrecks in Zonqor point, Marsascala. She used to be a tugboat working in Grand Harbour alongside Tugboat St. Michael. Together with the St. Michael tugboat, Tug 10 made it’s way to the sea bottom in 1998. She is 16 meters in length and lies on a sandy bottom at a depth of about 20 meters. The wreck is perfectly suitable for any type of divers, including Open Water qualified ones. The wreck has a vast marine life and is a home for many underwater species.
The area
The area is sheltered from the north-northwest winds. As a result it is an ideal place to dive when other dive sites are unavailable due to rough sea or winds. The only disadvantage of this dive site is the visibility, which is quite poor. Frankly speaking, the visibility is most likely to be very bad, so be prepared for this. Sometimes it is easy to miss the wreck, swimming just 5-10 meters away from it.
Other wrecks
There are 2 more wrecks resting in the area. First one is Tugboat St. Michael and the second one is recently scuttled (and now destroyed) P33. St Michael is another small tugboat-type wreck, that was scuttled on the same day as Tugboat 10. The P33 is a former patrol boat, scuttled in summer 2021. Sadly, the storm in winter 2022 destroyed the P33 wreck. Some parts of the P33 made it inside the bay, in the shallow area normally used for try dives.
