Octopus canvas print
Octopus resting in between the stones
A closeup photo showing an octopus sitting in between the stones. One of his arms is carefully put on a piece of rock. This resembles how we humans take out our arm when driving a car 🙂
This particular octopus was probably a young species. He was not showing any sings of aggression or being scared, like changing his color or trying to swim away leaving only black ink behind. Quite the opposite! He was patiently waiting for me to take this photo, as if he was enjoying the process himself.
Octopus is a nocturnal animal. This means that the best time to hunt for that cool photo of the octopus is during a night dive. Keep your eyes on the reefs, cracks, stones during your dive. This is where the chances of meeting an octopus are the highest. A good place to look for octopuses on a night dive is Zurrieq, the home of Um El Faroud wreck. Both left and right reef, or as they also called, west and east reefs are a perfect place to look for these creatures. Be prepared for other divers and a lot of light flashes underwater during summer months. The place get quite busy, especially on August’s evenings.
