Description
Ghar Lapsi is a small rocky bay located on the southern coast of Malta, just a few kilometers away from the village of Siggiewi. The area is specifically popular among divers for an underwater cave. Thanks for it’s depth and ease of access, this dive site is suitable for all type of certified divers as the depth in the cave does not exceed 6 meters. The cave has a single entry and numerous exit points, that allow a diver that’s feeling uncomfortable to leave the cave as soon as possible. Therefore the cave in Ghar Lapsi us frequently used by dive centers as part of the ‘diving in an overhead environment‘ training.

A cave in Ghar Lapsi one of the flattest caves in Malta. Literally, the height of the cave does not exceed 2 meters, and most of the cave falls below 1 meter height. As a result, paying extra attention on cave entry is a must, as improper penetration may lead to equipment damage.
Also, there are many cracks in the ceiling and a number of exit points from the cave, that on a sunny day create unique, spectacular views. The cave is a must-visit for any underwater photography enthusiast or anyone who want to have that exceptionally unusual photograph from the holiday.
The area
The whole area gets extremely busy with locals and tourists during summer month, so plan you trip wisely! There are also a number of restaurants and cafes ready to serve you food on a sunset after a good swim. They also sell decompression beers for those that opt to explore the place underwater 🙂
