Ray

Rays are gorgeous! Every diver get excited when any kind of ray is passing by. Common stingray is the one that you would likely see in the Maltese waters. However there are more! Common eagle rays are way less common but still can be spotted from time to time especially when you go deeper. In 2011 Sharklab Malta recorder the first occurrence of the bull ray on the sandy bottom at a very shallow depth. There’s also a rumor that a proper Manta ray has been seen by technical divers coupe of years ago…

Common rays are not very keep on posing for a good photo. They tend to escape contact with the divers. The closer your approach them, the faster they will swim away from you. As a result – getting a good portrait photo underwater of any kind of ray is a challenging task. Yet it is always a pleasure to meet one during your dive trip and admire the beauty nature has created.
